Whether an older version has a bug is irrelevant if it's been fixed in a new release.

Especially here because V15 made so many major improvements there's no reason to use V14 anymore.

Re: Some weird things in PCem...

As I mentioned earlier, the CD music in Earthworm Jim 2 is stuttering even with 4x CDROM speed I tested on my DOS system, 2x speed will probably have stuttering music also, I will test later. Anyway I don't know if this occurs because of the CDROM speed, probably a bug in PCem. I would like to know...

Re: Some weird things in PCem...

Version 15, and I explained to you in the other thread:

That ancient CPU is way below the pay grade to emulate anything but the slower chips PCEM offers. A Pentium 233 on that thing is asking way to much of both PCEM and your hardware.

Have you updated to PCem v15 yet? Just curious to ask. Yes, and in fact you can see in the title bar there it's V15 Thank you for the clarification. Let's hope that the bug in question gets fixed soon. Issue is I don't if a bug with the Soundblaster emulation or real-behavior from some kind of soft...

Re: My question: why PCem is much resource intensive?

Thanks. But what is better? Core i5 or Core i7/i9? One more question: how many threads my Core2 Duo has? What is CPU threads? I don't know about this. 1) It entirely depends on the age of the CPU but you won't see much improvement going beyond a 6-core i5 that's unlocked and overclocked because PCE...

Re: My question: why PCem is much resource intensive?

PCEM is an emulator that aims for accuracy so it requires a lot of CPU power, especially if you're emulating a 3DFX card because you really need at least four threads for that (one for the CPU emulation and three more for the 3DFX card), That Core 2 Duo you're using is an ancient chip from 2009 that...

completely different architecture, CPUs, etc. PCem likely won't ever emulate the PowerPCs or Motorolas involved, nor the x86 CPUs involved with the later Macs. divingkatae is working on a PCem-inspired PPC Mac emulator though, motivated by frustrations of sheepshaver/PearPC stagnancy and how there'...

Old Mac OSs on PCEM?

So this is something I've not been able to dig up much on with Google.

Would it theory work setting up an old MacOS (ie: OS 9 or older) machine within PCEM or do those have specialized hardware PCEM doesn't emulate?

Re: Linux requirements to run 3dfx games

Oh yes, of course the graphics drivers. Found them and everything works great, thank Keep in mind both those games require CPUs on the faster end of what PCEM emulates (MMX 200 recommended on NFS3) so you're going to need a beefy CPU to get good performance. I have a 3600X and I still can only pull...

Seems that was it

Updating to the newest driver seems to have resolved the issue so it seems to be a real-world bug with whatever music engine those games are using and the older versions of the driver rather than a PCEM problem.

Most of the different tests there has the regular Pentiums higher than the ...

I have a Ryzen 3600X for reference. more emulated mhz demands more performance from your Ryzen CPU do you have your 3600X at stock clocks or overclocked? It's got PBO enabled and hits about 4.3Ghz single-core boost. Ryzen chips really don't have overhead for OCing unless you're extremely lucky because unlike the FX line AMD pretty mu...
