Linux requirements to run 3dfx games

Post by carloratm »

Hi,
I am an absolute n00b with this emulator.
I would like to emulate 2 games I own: Need for Speed 3 and Nba Live 99.

Is it possible to run them smoothly on a Linux host machine, given that I'm using open source drivers on my cheap Intel card?
Do I need proper 3d acceleration on the host machine to get 3dfx emulation?

Thanks in advance
Carlo

The 3dfx emulation is entirely software rendered. You'll need at least three/four CPU threads/cores

Ok, thank you!

I have installed Windows 98, do I have to install something else to make the 3dfx emulation work?

My pcem settings are

Keep in mind both those games require CPUs on the faster end of what PCEM emulates (MMX 200 recommended on NFS3) so you're going to need a beefy CPU to get good performance. I have a 3600X and I still can only pull of a Pentium MMX 233 on my emulated system.
