Is it really limited to 4mb? Because, for a bare test, Win95 glitches a lot with 8mb, yet with acceleration turned off completely it renders correctly.
Note: this does not apply to NT (any version above 3.1 since no mach64 drivers exist for such version).

Re: Mach64GX acceleration memory limit
If you look at the Wikipedia article on the ATI Mach64 GX series:
1. The Graphics Xpression model comes with 1 MB DRAM and is upgradeable to 2 MB.
2. The Graphics Pro Turbo model comes with 2 MB VRAM and can be upgraded to 4 MB.
3. The WinTurbo model comes with either 1 MB or 2 MB VRAM, but the VRAM is not upgradable.
So you are correct. Can anyone check what exact model of the Mach64 GX is displayed when the BIOS performs a memory test at startup?

Actually, the bios supports up to 8MB, so are the drivers.

Re: Mach64GX acceleration memory limit
Thank you for telling me. I'm going to do a search for Mach64 GX cards on Google that do support up to 8 BM VRAM.SA1988 wrote:Actually, the bios supports up to 8MB, so are the drivers.
