PCemV17 Directory and Unicode Errors

Post by cm8802 »

First of all let me say thank you to PCem and everyone who's been supporting this great emulator! Can't imagine emulation without it. However, lately I'd some problems when trying to start PCemV17...

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 11. I installed PCemV12 because I've been using that on another PC for quite awhile and was very satisfied. On my new PC everything worked also fine, except that I was having trouble with the mouse cursor in Windows 95. So I finally tried to install the PCemV17.

But when I opened the exe file of PCemV17, I got two error messages right away and couldn't proceed.

The first message said:
"Error: Directory '' couldn't be created (error 3)"

And that's the message the followed right away:
"Warning: Command line argument 0 couldn't to Unicode and will be ignored"

I tried older versions of PCem and the same messages pop up for all versions from 13 to 17. I don't have this problem with version 11 and 12.

Any idea what could be the problem?

First, ensure that you have write permissions on the directory and subdirectories where PCem is.
Also, you could be having problems with directories with spaces, although I don't recognize any of both errors.
