In the vast majority of games, voodoo 3 allows you to select a high resolution without any problems.
But some games do not set resolutions above 640x480, such as Demolition Racer. However, with Voodoo 2 you can set both 800x600 and 1024x768. What is the problem or is it a feature of individual games?

What driver version do you have installed? What DirectX version?
Re: 3dfx voodoo 3 2000/3000 game resolution problem
First Voodoo card had 2MB framebuffer memory and separate 2MB texture memory. Max resolution was 640x480.
Voodoo 2 card had 4MB framebuffer memory and separate 4 or 8 MB texture memory. Max resolution was 800x600.
2 Voodoo 2 cards in SLI had 4MB + 4MB = 8MB framebuffer memory and separate 4 or 8 MB texture memory for each card. Max resolution was 1024x768.
Voodoo 3 cards had no longer separate framebuffer and texture memory so more options for resolution.

A lot of older Glide games didn't futureproof (nor couldn't) for Banshee's breaking of the resolution limits. For Glide, only newer games using Glide3x released in 1999+ should be more hi-res aware. Otherwise it'll be Direct3D and OpenGL (no MiniGL) for older hirez-able games.
This goes both directions too - Banshee/V3 can do 3d in 320x200 whereas V1/V2 is 512x384 minimum (512x256 if you're an arcade machine)
