Is there a way to increase the CD Audio volume?

Post by Tasoulios »

CD volume is already at max in the audio control panel.

However, when i play any game with CD music, like Quake, the music volume is very low, even if i max it in the game options. In order to balance the audio i have to reduce the SFX volume way down. 100% of CD audio sounds as loud as about only 20% of SFX audio. The difference is that bad.

In 86box the volume is much more balanced. So is there a way to fix this?

Currently, there are some CD audio issues in PCem. In Screamer 2, for example, CD audio is so quiet that you can barely hear it even when you set the PCem's sound output and host computer volume level to the max. On the other hand, in a number of games that I've tried CD audio and MIDI were considerably louder than SFX.
When using any AudioPCI-based card loud and annoying ticking sound could be heard right before playing or switching a MIDI file.
Things need to be improved and more balanced. I wish somebody would guide me on how to fix these issues.
