Hi,
is there a way to move the .pcem Folder to another Directory or Drive like D:\.pcem ?
Actually it runs in %Homepath%\.pcem but i wan´t to move it to a USB Stick. On USB Stick it shows an Error.
:Edit:
It works when i store \Roms and \Configs in %HOMEPATH\USER\.pcem

You can edit the pcem.cfg and change the paths like below to get the classic behavior:
PCemVNext still looks for the pcem.cfg in the %Homepath%\.pcem folder. What I did was create a symlink to that file. You could add a batch file to do this to the USB stick. However you do need to start this as administrator as it requires a special privilege to do this.
Or you could just use PCemV17, which is portable by default.
Code: Select all
[Paths]
roms_paths = roms
nvr_path = nvr
configs_path = configs
logs_path = logs
screenshots_path = screenshots
plugin_path = plugins
Or you could just use PCemV17, which is portable by default.

It has been over 3 years since the latest version of PCem was released and no signs of V18 has ever been released yet!
Re: PCem v18 News (Was v17 Notice)
You could download PCemVNext and pretend it's PCemV18. That works for me...Gamzbox2019 wrote: ↑Sat 03 Feb, 2024 9:31 pm It has been over 3 years since the latest version of PCem was released and no signs of V18 has ever been released yet!
What kind of response are you expecting? Did you know that even if you cannot program, you still can contribute to the project by, for instance, write better documentation or write tutorials to make it easier for (new) users to run the program?

Don’t know if this is the right place to ask or allowed to ask is there anyway to build a repository for drivers of the emulated hardware available in pcem?
It would be great to have a one stop spot to lay my hands on them like a virtual hdd or cd you can mount and everythings available.

My personal sources for drivers had been:
- GLSetup = 3dfx V1/V2/V3 drivers for Win9X, lazy installer from certain 1999-2001 game discs that involve OpenGL (starting from Quake III Arena and ending around Serious Sam The Second Encounter), also useful for any other decent enough 3d card of the 98-99 era in case they'll ever see emulation.
- DirectX 5/6/6.1 = DirectDraw video drivers, lazy source of Virge DX drivers, found on plenty of 97-99 game discs, most useful for Windows 95 (which doesn't ship Virge or Mach64 drivers)
- MPC Wizard = good source for 1994-era Win3.1 video and sound card drivers, came with a multimedia kit I had.
- Matrox M3D = driver disc for a PowerVR card, but also contains MGA Powerdesk drivers for Millennium / Mystique

No new release after 3 1/2 years ago and so far V17 is the only latest version released back in late 2020

86box is the latest version so far and after 3 years when the old developer of PCem left we have a new developer and there has so far been no release of PCem V18 after 4 years of V17 when Sarah left and Michael is very slow to getting a new version of PCem

I think this thread has outlived its usefulness.
