v17 compile PBP - issues

Post by wpeckham »

Fresh compile from v17 sources on Pinebook Pro (AARCH64). I can set a CD-ROM drive in a machine, but if I select a drive to be the cd rom (IDE primary slave or IDE secondary master) the browse does not work and the file is grayed out. There is no way to attach an ISO file to the CD-ROM driver so I cannot install software form CD-ROM images. Is there a way around this issue, or something I can change in the configuration before the compile to enable this?

All legal Ideas are welcome.

I have done installs using QEMU, and on other hardware using VirtualBox (which I cannot run on the PBP) .

Also welcome pointers to FOSS rom files that PCEM might be able to use.

UDATE: problem not fixed. I found however, that if you rename a LEGACY ISO file to IMG and set it as a hard disk the guest machine can boot form it and use it to install FreeDOS to the other drive. Now you have FreeDOS and all of those games and packages. That does not help with newer (non-LEGACY) CD-ROM ISO files or any ISO image that has compression. I still need to resolve the problem for those to work,
