Diablo II in PCem Mini-Guide
I managed to get Diablo II working in PCem and wrote a mini-guide over at The Moving Caravan about how I went about it.
Re: Diablo II in PCem Mini-Guide
I read your guide to Diablo II. I am glad to see people offering help to those trying to get their old games running on new PCs.
PCem is the best way to run many of these games. Pentium 2 emulation is so good that I can run some games well past the Pentium MMX speeds. This is impressive given that my i7 9750h only has an all-core turbo speed of 4 Ghz.
Normally I stick with the P2 233 to make sure the speed never goes below 100%. I can do this even with multiple programs and windows open at the same time.
Even in 2022 PCem is amazing.

Thanks for the nice comment!
I'm planning on upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. I'm hoping that will allow me to switch up to the Pentium IIs and smooth Diablo II .

Ryzen 5600G has a Passmark ST rating of 3,189. Considering that people with 5600X (3,378) were having issues with maintaining constant 100% speed even when emulating Pentium II 233 (close to Diablo 2's minimum requirements), I doubt you'd get the desired results with this processor. Personally, I'd go with i5 12600 in your case. It's slightly more expensive, although much more suitable for PCem and the related tasks. It has a Passmark ST rating of 3,879.

Apologies for the necro here but the guide link is down. Would it be possible for you to host/post this elsewhere? I'd be very grateful. Cheers!hedgesparrow wrote: ↑Wed 06 Apr, 2022 10:30 am I managed to get Diablo II working in PCem and wrote a mini-guide over at The Moving Caravan about how I went about it.
Edit: took a while of digging through the wayback machine but I found it: https://web.archive.org/web/20230324170 ... 1f6892c43a
